[ An audible fumble, and Aspen sounds out of breath - ]

Oh! Yes, I - everything's alright. I wanted to ask if you would be busy tomorrow, or perhaps, the day... after. I would...

[ A pause, full of tension. ]

I have something important to ask of you. It - won't mean much to you, I'm sure, but... it is important for me.

( Ja'far is dying ok. )

[ ?!?!?!?!?! ]

Ja'far? What's wrong? Are you alright?

Yes, I'm fine, don't worry.

I... ( He coughs. ) I have. Feelings for Aspen. As well as you! My feelings for you have not changed, in the slightest. I just...

Is it... alright that I love Aspen as well?

[ Due to his time being occupied by his show, of course Aspen can't deliver the present himself, but he was able to wrap it himself, at least. It's a medium-sized box, and when shaken, there seems to be a multitude of things inside - it's wrapped with silver paper, surprisingly understated considering who its recipient is.

Inside, there's a water gun. It's filled, water sloshing around inside - and the instructions are taped to the water vessel (just in case Sin doesn't know how to use one. Gods know Aspen didn't.) Ah, but that's not all.

Underneath the water gun, there's a racy red lingerie. It's not even trying to be classy; from its cashmere and lace, soft sheer gauze that drapes to mid-thigh, tight lacy underwear and thigh highs, there's nothing but overt sexuality oozing from it. It's not Sinbad's size. It's Aspen's. There's also black silk rope.

From one of the straps hangs the tag, and it reads - Merry Solstice! You're a very hard man to shop for, Sinbad... so, instead, let's have a wager. I have one of these guns, too. If you get me wet before I get you wet when I get there... I'll wear this little thing that I sent you. You can even tie me up if you want to really have your way with me. But... if I win, you have to wear what I picked out. I wonder what it is?

There's also a pack of no-bake cookies - peanut butter balls rolled in white powdered sugar to make it look like snow, chocolate-hazelnut truffles, and dipped pretzels studded with peppermint candy. They're not the neatest... Aspen clearly had some trouble making them, but they're quite tasty. They should hold the suspense for their inevitable "battle" for a while. ]

[ On the 22nd, a small box arrives for Sinbad. The wrapping is plain but the box is intricately crafted. And inside is a gold ornament for his hair.

[ At Sinbad's doorstep in the morning is a small box in glossy gold gift packaging:

A half-dozen cellophane-wrapped cookies, very obviously homemade; a line of gold-foil-wrapped luxury condoms with a post-it on top reading 'so you never get caught again like we did the first time! ;)'; and a plain, thin golden ring set with a gem the same vivid color as Sinbad's hair. On the inside of the metal is a carefully fine inscription, 'to just ends'. It's clearly magical, and instinct would suggest that the gem may need to be magical to activate the spell.

Even after all of this time, I still get butterflies when you smile at me. It's strange to think that we're still here at the turning of a year...

You have a way of bringing out the best in people. Inspiring not just loyalty, but... confidence. Hope. Having been in a position before to have lost almost all hope, I can't tell you how important you are, for that reason. There aren't many people in this or any world who... can make others feel so safe to be vulnerable. So safe to be weak, or fragile around.

I've never really believed in kings or lords or rulers of any kind, until I met you. I love you; but as much as that, I believe in you. And I hope the year ahead brings all the best to you, and rewards all you give to others in the ways you love best.

He does come home rather quickly though, thankful that of course Sinbad picked someplace convenient for them to live, on top of everything else. Once he comes into the house, he seeks out Sinbad, looking a little grave. )

[Two packages are delivered on the same day. One is for Ja'far, so no peeking in that one Sinbad.

Within is a black leather case, that contains a set of sterling silver hair brushes, and a hand mirror, as well as a note.]

From the very beginning, you have been there for me. You are a light that draws so many to your brilliance and warmth, and I am no exception. How can I ever express the depths of my feelings for you?

This token is hardly expressive of how much I adore you, but I hope you like it regardless. And perhaps you'll let me use them on you sometime.

12/31ish - a gift!

( On Sinbad's desk is a carefully wrapped medium size package. The tag on top would instantly let him know it's from Ja'far, and the contents would just be even more of an indicator it's from his general. Inside is a multitude of things meant for their new, modern office - nice paper, fancy pens, some more various office supplies that Sinbad would most likely use day to day. It's a bit tongue in cheek - Ja'far's obviously asking Sinbad to do his work, as per usual - but all of the items are of high quality, in colors and styles Sinbad would like, and clearly something Ja'far put thought into, despite the jab at the heart of it.



But, if Sinbad shifts through all of the office supplies, he'll find another small, wrapped package at the bottom, this one with a separate note. )

With all of the gift giving, I wanted to join the spirit and give you something as well, Sin.

Somehow, we haven't spent time together that included me wearing something for you. Aspen helped me pick these out, but the only one who will get to see me in them is you.

( Inside the second package, there are two sets of lingerie - one folded neatly on top of a second set - the latter of which seems to be two put together, specifically for Sinbad.

Is Ja'far kind of flustered about it? You bet he is. But he's also a bit excited for Sinbad's reaction to it. Especially after having to tell him about Kouen, this should be a good gift, right? Right. )

[ There's surprise in his tone, but he's quick to answer, setting aside what he was doing. ]

( He hesitates doing this for a long time - nearly half a day passes since Aspen wakes up that he finally gains the nerve to do it. He wants to talk to Sinbad in person, properly, but he doesn't want to startle him away, either, so he texts him first. )

Sin, if you're free, would you be willing to meet and talk?

[ He's not expecting the text.

Maybe he should have been, but weeks have passed and things have been... strained and awkward to say the least. He's been doing everything he could to give Ja'far the space he needed.

But he can't lie and say that it hasn't hurt at the same time. The loss of trust - of the closeness and camaraderie and affection they've always shared - cuts deep, even if he knows it's his own doing. Which makes it even harder, because he has no one to blame for it but himself - even if it's a version of himself he hasn't even become yet. Which leaves him stewing in a self-loathing and frustrated slump for days on end, no matter how much he tries to distract himself with other things.

So when Ja'far's text comes through, he sits and stares at the words for almost ten minutes before finally typing out a response, feeling himself clutched with an anxiety that borders on panic.

( Ja'far's... well, he's a little apprehensive about this. Honestly, Aspen doing it at his private office was one thing, it's a whole other thing to be doing this at his job, but. The amount of times he's caught people here going at it, if anyone cares, let them hang.

Still, this is. A little outside his comfort zone.

When he enters Sinbad's office, he's carrying paperwork, looking innocuous as usual - the only difference being he locks the door behind him. He steps over to the desk, putting the paperwork down upon it, and watching Sinbad for just a moment. Really, if he didn't already feel guilty about the whole thing that happened after he woke up back here...

No, he wanted to do this. He did. It sends a thrill down his spine at the thought.

He clears his throat before he moves, sliding Sinbad's arm out of the way as he shifts into his lap. )

[ Sinbad pauses when Ja'far interrupts his paperwork - which he'd actually been doing for once - and he slides back in his chair when his lover insinuates himself on his lap.

....More confused than turned on at the moment, to be perfectly honest. ]

[ Was that the issue here? Or should he have just started with an apology? ]
